One person is dead and seven were injured after a shooting took place early Monday morning at a large gathering in Dayton, Ohio, about an hour's drive west of Columbus, according to reports.
Dayton Police officers and medics were dispatched to the area where a shooting was reported around 1 a.m. on Monday, according to WHIOTV and ABC 6.
At least eight people were shot, Police Sgt. Creigee Coleman said at a press conference posted to ABC 6's website.
USA TODAY reached out to the Dayton Police Department.
'We need your help'
Police are asking for help in identifying the suspect or suspects. The public's help is needed "so this doesn't happen again," said Coleman.
“People, we need to know exactly who caused this situation, who is responsible for this situation,” said Coleman.
